The TSB's on the NHTSA's website does not indicate body style, drivetrain,
engine size, etc... All it will identify is year, make and model and a very
brief description of the problem (check it out and you'll see what I mean)...
The service guy told me this problem applied to '97 & '98 4x4's. It may very
well apply to more.
What I suggest is that you check out the web page, then call your dealer and
talk to 'em about the symptoms... My guy was great about in that he ordered the
part just by my calling him... didn't need to bring the truck down or anything.
It took a little while though 'cause he couldn't find the right TSB...
Apparently there is another one out there for a clicking sound when shifting an
automatic from park to drive... I don't have that problem.

a) At low speeds, while turning or hitting small bumps
I get a rattle or
clunking noise that seems to be coming from the two
piece shaft that connects
the wheel to the steering gear. You can hear it (radio
off) and feel a slight
vibration in the wheel. I don't think it is unsafe,
just annoying.
I called my dealer this morning and he is ordering a
part to replace the two
piece shaft with a one piece shaft --or something like
that... I'll know more
when I take it in. He said the TSB applied to all '97 &
'98 4x4 Dakota's (and
some Durango's) that have the recirculating ball
steering gear.
b) Surf to http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems it
will give you info. on
recalls and TSB's.

P.S. There is a recall out on some 12,000+ '98 Daks for
bolts that are used to
attach the cab to the frame that were not properly
hardened... They say that
notification began in late Sept. to owners with affected
vehicles.

Okay so where can I find out a) what is this problem?
and b) Is there a good
source to find all TSB's for a given model?
Thanks,
