My name is Mike. I will (hopefully) become a Dakota owner soon. My dad
has a '96 Dodge Ram which I drive most of the time. We have done many
upgrades to it and just this weekend took it out to the Silver Lake Sand
Dunes in Michigan. It was lots of fun and we managed not to get stuck
this time. I have been on the Ram mailing list for two years now and
found it real helpful. Hopefully you guys can help me out.
It has come time for me to buy my own truck and I really love the Ram so
I want a Dakota. I wanted to get a used '97-up Dakota CC 4X4 V-8
5-speed. I've been looking for about 6 months and haven't found anything
like that. Our dealer told us that no one buys a v-8 5-speed in this
area (north suburbs of Chicago) and the only two they ordered they never
sold. So now I'm looking at ordering a new one.
Couple ?'s
-anyone have a 5-speed V-8 4X4 with the 3.9 axle? Any problems? Is it
quick? :)
-is the Tire & Handling option worth it? How are the tires in snow and
mud?
-can anyone recommend a dealer in my area (Northern IL) for a good deal?
-any options that are exceptionally good/bad?

BTW- I tried to find places that made lift kits for '97-up Dakota's.
Couldn't find anyone. After calling a few places I found out that
Skyjacker is making a lift kit for the Dakota which should be out this
fall/winter.
