Esp. with the tire and handling package I'd be tempted to go with the
3.92. FYI, you *must* get a 3.92 on the Durango if you have the tire and
handling package, so Dodge obviously thinks more hoot is required with
the bigger rubber. Mileage won't be much different, but the added hoot
off the line will be noticable.
With the V8, suregrip (limited slip) is a must if you don't want to look
like an idiot doing one legged burnouts every time the pavement is the
least bit damp.
Has she actually seen the purple on a truck? I was going to get my '97
in purple 'cause it looked cool in the brochure, but then I saw one on
the lot, and it was butt ugly (just my opinion, sorry purple Dak owners
;-))

Subject: DML: 3.55 Vs 3.92
I have finally talked my girlfriend into gettting a Dakota. I know what
some of you were talking about now, some of the dealers just don't know
anything about what they are selling. I asked one dealer if we could
see the R/T and he said that he would have to check if they could get
that in the dakota but we were more than welcome to look at the neon
R/T. I was pushing for the R/T but she didn't like the 14 mpg thing. I
did manage to talk her into the V8 though. Her only sticking point now
is the 3.55 Vs the 3.92 axle ratio. I tried to explain it to her but I
don't know that much about it to begin with. She is wanting a sport V8
CC automatic with the tire and handling package so what would be best
for her. Also do you think she needs the limited slip differential. I
told her she probably didn't but again I don't know that much about it.
I think she is planning on driving mostly city miles but I think she
will be on the freeway more especially here in vegas. One more thing I
was pushing for was the solar yellow but she wants that purple color.
