Tstats

I don't know how cold we dare to run our engines but most know 160, 180 195 seem
to be available t'stat ranges one can readily buy. If 195 is stock, and Mopar
has a 185 in the performance catalog, Is that a magic number. I know I put a
180 an a 87 Ferd that my wile has and it lost power and mileage so I put the 195
back in and everything was OK. So does anyone Really know (not guessing) what
temp is required to totally satisfy the computer? I am temped to try the Mopar
185.
On the other hand I have decided NOT to try any mods on the R/T under 500 miles
because I probably will not get a fair idea of power increases caused by the
accessories when the engine is still too new. (The 98 ran like crap until about
1k on the odo.)
