big thanks to all of you who took time to read and reply to my message,
especially to Glen and Patrick who replied personally.
As some of you are interested by my problem(rear hop),here's some more info
i forgot to mention in my first message.
my dak in equipped with a 4 speed automatic transmission which was checked
and found to be ok.
the differancial is a 3.55 "anti slip" or some of you call "positrac"??
tires are identical to those installed at the factory:goodyears wrangler AT.
when the original tires were worn out,i bought 3 new ones and used the spare
which was also identical.if i recall,these tires were made especially for the
dakota as they are only 2 ply.
since i live in north eastern canada,we get a lot of snow.it's already below
freezing point at night,so,inthe winter,i use winter tires.i wore out two
different sets of snow grips and i'm on my second set of wranglers.i've
always run them at 35psi.I WILL try different pressures and keep you posted.
i've always kept my tires balanced properly,as i questioned myself about it
being the cause of my trouble.there is no vibration on the road like those
caused by unbalanced tires or driveshaft at any speed.
the wheel hop will happen in any conditions as long as the rear wheels spin.
it,s gonna be especially bad on wet asphalt and thick snow on 2wd.it,s also
gonna hop on 4wd in the snow if the wheels spin.it will hop in a straight line
and in the corners.
last winter i didnt bother removing the ice and snow from the cargo box.at
some point,i estimated the weight to be between 400 and 500 pounds.it wasnt
doing any good to my problem and it was costing me more for the fuel.
i also forgot to mentioned that the dealer as put in 3600$ in parts and labor.
now chrysler canada no longer wants to pay the dealer for keeping on trying
to fix it.
at one point, the dealership tried an ordinary "non antislip" differential.
even with that,it was still hoping!!!
VOILA!! that's my story.hope i've answered all your questions.
please do not hesitate to give me some feedback.i need help as i wont get any
from anyone at chrysler.it's a shame for the dealership cause they worked real
hard for me in the last six months.
p.s. i am not a hacker,so would someone be kind enough to tell me how to get
rid of that cow and message??
