Here is my opinion on subjects asked by various members.

1. Bruce and Frank: In "Holley Carburetors & Manifolds",page 12 and also the CAA
aircraft mech. manual(1947)hp curves of A/F flat from 12.5 to 13.5. After 13.5 curve
starts droping off faster. Anyway 6 hp is what you get. One would run in the 12.5
range because of high supercharger pressure, high compression or to much timing or
a combination of all three. If things are not kept out of detonation things break.
2. I am using a 3" FLOWMASTER on my R/T, sounds good and feels like 8 to 10 hp.
3. Am also using BOSCH PLATINUM spark plugs gapped at .060. If you have enough
voltage to jump gap will be worth 5 hp or so. Platinum plugs last forever (100k
on my chev truck) and sharp point from fine wire means you need less voltage to jump
gap.
4. If you use 75w-90 synthetic gear lube in rear end good for 1% hp gain hot and 5%
cold. 1% is not much but it would be forever and you would save a little gas. Go to
the Redline web page to get the info. Be a good reason to put a crome differential
cover on. Only 17.75 from MOPAR.
5. I have a 180 thermostat and water wetter. Also have a Jet Stage 2. Before I put
on the K&N when things got louder I was running 87 octane gas with no ping. Called
tech. guy from Jet and asked how much more timing I was getting. He said 4 to 8
degrees more. I said how come I can run 87 and he said cause your knock detector is
retarding before you hear it. I said goodday and hung up. Dudes, there ain't no knock
detector in DODGES. You will have pinging with the MOPAR part on 87 octane but at least
you the know it is advancing the timing and making more hp. Me thinks Jet part worth
about 1.98. Save your bucks and wait for MOPAR part.
