Not laughing, and the only stupid question is the one that isn't
asked (or so I've been told!).
The Y-pipe, head pipe, etc.. is the portion of the exhaust that
bolts up to the stock exhaust manifolds (the hot iron/tinfoil covered
pipes on each side of the V8 (and V6). The stock Y-pipe (called a Y
because from underneath the truck it looks like a Y.) , See below,
has a large crimp (restrictive) as it passes from the drivers side to
the passengers side of the 'y' pipe portion of the exhaust (noted as
a '-' in the lame drawing below.
