The last article I read, I believe Popular Mechanics on 99 new
trucks, said that the 318/360 would be replaced by "all new modular V8's",
all aluminum, DOHC & SOHC, 4.7 and 5.? that would develop more HP & MPG from
smaller CI's. Basically the small displacement push rod V8 will be no more.
The 4.7 is already out in the GC to rave reviews.
I'll try to take the time to find this article tonight. Memory is
not exact.

They aren't. Errr, or "won't be" very shortly that is... Since
the 318 is going the way of the Dodo bird, soon it will only be the
360 and the 4.7. The similarities between the two might have
been part of the reason they decided to scrap the 318. ?
I wonder if the motor mounts on the 4.7 are the same as the
current 318/360? (If so, that would still allow someone to
do the swap...) If not, well... I'm glad I have one of
the Magnum Daks. I'll keep it, thanks! :-)
