Electric Daks...

Let me clairify my position here. I'm not an enviro-freak, I love my V8
(and yes the rumble is cool) but I love preformance as well. If I had the
money to spend, I'd love to experiment and pull the V8 in favor of a small
diesel, generator, and 3 deep cycle batteries. In place of the transmission
would go a near zero maintenance high torque, high hp low weight electric
motor.
Sitting next to your opponent on the strip would be an interesting
experience. His motor rumbles... you are silent. The tree drops, his motor
roars, yours makes a small whine. He's staring at your backside as you
stealthly out run him like a slingshot. He comes over to ask what you have
under the hood, and you say "A 750cc normally aspirated diesel." He screams
and wonders if he needs to spend another thousand on that nitrous mod to beat
you.
Admittedly, such a mod would run about $10,000 but it could be fun.
Especially when the DMV sends you that neat "Smog Check Required" note and you
laughingly check the "exempt" box and send it back to them. many
advantages... few limitations... except for that huge price tag... <sigh>
