Subject: DML: RT Modifications
I recently purchased a 99RT RC (sold my 95 F150, it was a slug even with a
5.0). This has got to be the best truck I have ever owned (every other truck
has been slow Fords), but I have found in the last couple of weeks that
performance parts for
these trucks is really lacking. What I want to do is:
1.) Get some aluminum cylinder heads
[Bridges, Bruce] maybe next year if they keep up a good racing program, but
CARB approval may be big trouble.
2.) Headers
[Bridges, Bruce] Lots available
3.) A better Throttle Body
[Bridges, Bruce] contact MPI or see recent DML post by me... 30 HP possible
4.) Updated performance computer
[Bridges, Bruce] Maybe next year, try the JETII module, 4 deg more timing,
better fuel map, worth around 11 hp
5.) A better Intake
[Bridges, Bruce] MPI now available, no testament yet as to gains/losses, Im
getting one on order...
6.) High Stall Torque Converter
[Bridges, Bruce] A few out there, but the lockup is a problem. HPM mag had
some nice articles on this.
7.) Shift kit for Transmission
[Bridges, Bruce] Transgo is available for 46RE
(I wanted a performance 5 or 6 speed Manuel transmission, but instead I
paid $950 for a auto transmission I didn't want)
[Bridges, Bruce] No choice there...
[Bridges, Bruce] Welcome to the List! register your R/T on the R/T
registry site yet?
Thanks to this list I found that headers, shift kits are available and I
like the great tips for setting the air cleaner, etc.,
but I am unable to locate any (smog legal) aluminum cylinder heads or
throttle bodes. Any help finding these items would be a great help. I have
been spoiled with my Ford Mustangs, it seems everyone and there brother
makes cylinder heads,
throttle bodies, 5 or 6 speed transmissions, mass air intakes, etc.
Thanks
Dana
