Hello Mike. Believe or not, I had the same exact problem on my brand new
98 CC sport that I got a little under a month ago. I couldn't get it out
of defrost. So I brought it back to the dealer and they said it was a
fault from the factory, but they told me it had to do with the electronics
in the HVAC, and that the heater control unit had to be replaced. So this
is probably what you gonna have to do. I just thought I let you know that
the same thing happened to me, and that was what the problem was. Well if
you have any questions just write back. Thanks.
Mike

Subject: DML: help: HVAC broke
My 92 won't switch out of defrost. If I hit the vent buttons nothing
happens. I looked thru my Haynes manual and then opened the dash up.
Everything I can see looks ok. The vent/defrost controls use vacuum lines
that I can't follow under the dash. I assume I probably have a vaccine
leak, but cant follow the lines to find it.
Has anybody done this sort of thing and know where the lines go or have any
other suggestions???
Thanks,
mm
