to have some more robust components overall - I run my truck pretty hard,
(O.K. really hard). For part of an overall modification plan, I'd say (down
the road) go with the coil and the 8.5 mm wires. With a '99 Dak, you
shouldn't *need* to upgrade these components yet, of course we all do a lot
to our Daks that we don't *need* to!>>
By adding a MSD6A ignition box to your truck, you'll notice easier starts in
cold temperatures, a smoother idle & better throttle response, plus you'll
probably gain a mpg or two from the ignition box alone.
You probably won't notice much of a power increase unless you're blown, or
running nitrous, or anything else that would require more spark over the stock
ignition.
If you're fouling plugs (unlikely) the MSD has proven (at least to me) to help
prevent this. You really don't need a 6AL unless you plan on setting the rev
limiter lower than 5200 rpm, which is where the factory rev limiter is set at.
Wires - I wouldn't use MSD's wires, as Magnecor's 8.5mm wire will outlast two
sets of MSD wires, plus the Magnecor's also dissapate heat better & offer
complete EMI supression. Just a higher quality product in general.
Coil - Probably not essential on a brand new truck... I use my stock coil, but
will probably change it out sometime down the road.
