If this is a Powerdyne centrifugal supercharger (Lancaster, CA) stay away
from it. They also make blowers for number of Ford, Chevy and now import
applications. I just checked their website and they list a kit for 96-98
dakotas!
A very high percentage (>50%) of people who have Powerdynes has had a
failure of the internal belt. Out of warranty and it will cost $500 to
repair. They upgraded the design from BD-10 to BD-11 (new belt design) and
now it seems that these are somewhat prone to breakage too.
I had one for my Mustang and even with a 11lb pulley setup it only managed
6.5lb. these simply could not support the volume that a built V-8 requires.
I had the belt break too so I had it rebuilt and sold it then bought a
Vortech. Powerdyne are quiet and does not require punching the oil pan for a
return. It can be installed in 4 hours (I did).
If they are reliable they would be good for our daks since we don't want
more than 6lb of boost on a stock motor anyways. Maybe someone can find out
if the kit includes some kind of computer enhancement.

Hey Jules--Do you know anything about the Powerdyne
Mini-Chargers? I saw
one in the Truckin Dec. issue. They say that they're good
for 4 and 6
bangers, but work up to 350 thru 400 horsepower motors,
great for our V-8's
that don't need that serious power for 10-second runs, but
want to blow the
doors off those pesky 'Ruststangs and Zero-28's
