Mike,

You will always have some lead from bearings on a new engine. Thats why i'm
always change my oil at 600 miles on my own new engines. Next change every
3000 miles.
Last week i put a shortblock (318) in a 98 truck, after running the engine
for about 20 hours i had to take the oilpan off because of a faulty rear
main seal from factory, you should have seen the amount of lead from
bearings in that oilpan? But thats normal for a new engine, so don't assume
that the K/N filter is to blame for all of your lead in oilsample. Hope i
could get you in a better mode.
