More power to ya Dana, looks like you've got a super-strong 5.9l if its
running 14.4 that close to stock; lots of cars out there weighing
1000lbs less with 250 barely able to run mid 14s. I think Bruce (?)
mentioned (or someone) with a new R/T that they couldn't get out of the
15s stock.
If you're going into the 13s with headers and TB, the motor will have to
be making around 350hp. Not that I'm doubting you, but headers, chip,
intake and TB do not 100+hp make, so you obviously had more than 250 out
of the box from Dodge. FYI, similar mods from Hennessey (no TB though)
whos done a far better job on the computer than Jet by all accounts (its
a re-programmed unit, not just a stock one with a barnacle in front of
it playing with the signals, and is specifically dyno-tuned for the
mods) is worth 30-40hp (and thats consistent with the Mopar Performance
#s). If you get a chance to strap yours to a dyno before doing the next
set of mods, I'd love to hear the results...
Oh yea, and as far as the $9K goes, I suspect that the Fords will do
exactly what the R/Ts did; sell for MSRP or slightly above for the first
little while, and then the discounting will start. I remember the sobs
here of dealers asking 2-3K over MSRP when the R/Ts were scarce last
year, and now they are selling for invoice (pity the guys who paid the
premium a year ago :-)).
I think the eventual gap will be $5K, and besides the idea of "if it
breaks, drag it back to the dealer" appeals to me on a 350hp+ vehicle
:-). Wonder what the Ford would run with a 3.92 in back like the R/T :-)

Big deal 14.4 seconds. it is impressive for a 4600lb truck, but for
29000 it
isnt so hot. I bought my R/T RC for 20500 , I have only a jet 2
module and
a KN filter, with a fresh air intake I made myself. I have run 14.3 and
I dont
consider those "heavy mods" At all. With my newly ordered Leach
headers and
the Holloway TB im patiently waiting for, I should be knocking on 13s
door.
BRING EM ON!!! I think that they run quicker than 14.4 personally. 97
mph in
the quarter is pretty steep for 14.4.
Its gonna be a showdown this spring at the local dragstrips. Think of
how
fast a Dakota can be with an extra 9 grand to spend on mods!!!
Oh yeah, one more thing, An R/T will out handle that lead sled too!!!
Just my opinions,
Dana W
