I may be able to add something to this. When they first put the Vortech SC on
my truck, the dealer felt the extra fuel pump was not necessary and blew a
head gasket. You need high fuel pressure at max power and you need the extra
pump. The base PROM from Mopar is too lean and you will get pinging. Super
Chips in Florida will design a PROM for you that will increase the fuel at
elevated RPM. This is necessary to avoid trashing the engine.

In the July 1997 issue of MOPAR MUSCLE magazine there is an article about
intake mods. In that article they talk about modifications with the M-I
manifold, modifications with a Holly 4 barrel throttle body and a Air Horn
Director that fits over the standard two barrel TB and adds 5 HP. Has anyone
out there ever used any of these suggested modifications?
