Whoops: ah, the dangers of subscribing to the digest. Four answers to
my question about removing decals before I even sent it :(
But...I got the right answers :)
Spanks: 1) On my way home from work yesterday, I pulled up to a light on
a local 4 lane road next to a lowered Integra with all the stupid
decals all over it and the four inch tailpipe. I couldn't see the
driver from my 4x4 cab, but I sure could hear him revving the
engine. So, light turns green, I hear a tremendously raspy
exhaust note and hear a couple of tire chirps and see this little
red thing squirt past me. I figure what the hell, it's a
50 mph zone, so I turn down the radio and punch it. No spin
from the 31 x 10.5 meats and it just launches in first gear.
By the time my Dak shifts to 2nd, the Integra is a distant
memory. Too easy? Beating up on the little guy? Who cares.
This guy now knows what a V8 Dak is capable of.
2) I decided to take a couple of miles of freeway home, so
as I enter the freeway, a late model Z28 hogs the lane and
won't let me enter, so I floor it, downshift two gears and
I see clouds of grey smoke come out of his exhaust as he inches
ahead of me. We even up and are neck and neck until I hit 3rd, when
I get enough of an advantage to merge in front of him at about 80mph.
I was definitely out-accelerating him toward the end, and if I had
more room, it would have been fun to see how much of a lead
I could have gained on him. After merging, he rolled around
to my left and gave me a big grin and thumbs up.
Now how come this little truck is so DAMN fast?? It even feels
faster than my 1988 5.0l Mustang 5sp. And to think I traded my
Ranger in on it for the payload and 4wd capabilities...
I'm proud to be a member of the club. Oh...and I'll try to look at
archives before asking more faqs.
Cheers,
fish
