Hey Jim!
welcome to the DML (again)! I too have a 72 Cuda! Daily driver with a
built small block, modified 904 auto, 2300 stall converter, 3.23 sure grip
and bigblock suspension, not a real dragster, but great for around town
(dont get many Rangers lookin to race though...) To be honest, but not
brutal, my Fords (67 Cortina GT, 90 Tbird) have been good cars (although the
cortina is gonna get coal in its stocking this year for burning oil) BUT,
they are purely 2nd string transpo (until the Cortina gets prepped for
vintage racing)... 80HP 4bangers arent much to write home about, but they
are still a lot of fun (in the right hands :^) Stick around! Im sure Your
local dodge dealer can move a used Ranger!

Hello All,
In the last few days we've gotten to know a few of you guys and you some
of us. If you take a visit to my site you will see that the Dakota and S10
stuff was completely removed. After much thought I felt that this was not an
image that I wanted to portrait. Not only that, I also feel that the
comments made back and forth really did nothing but tarnish the image of the
site that was being represented so in the best interest I stopped it. That
included myself and DML. I have spent many hours working on my site and I'm
sure you have too.
I've been involved in cars since I was a little boy and will until I die. I
now have a little boy of my own and I can't wait until he's old enough to go
to shows with me etc., to share with him my passion for the automobile. I
can honestly say that I appreciate all automobiles that show they have been
cared for and maintained whether it be a Dodge, Ford, or Chevy. Even though
I might not like the brand, I can appreciate the hard work put into it.
Unfortunately, I might appreciate the Chevy but I would not be caught dead
owning one. I'm sorry but that's just the way it is. That's where I saw this
heading. Chevy drivers have been trying to cram how bad their cars down our
throats for years, both Ford and Dodge. When you start a match against a
Chevy owner it will surely come down to "my dad's bigger than your dad". I'm
sure you can relate. As both a Ford and a Dodge owner, I feel that we are
bigger than that.
I'm sure that I told a few of you that I own a 'Cuda and that I would eat
dirt before I got rid of it. I love that car. But I am mainly a Ford man.
I'm sure some of you will say that you invaded my site and forced me to shut
down the Dakota stuff but that's not it at all. Being a fireman, I have
plenty of time on my hands to work on my site. Besides, I paid for it!
I'll keep the subscription to DML for a little while in case some of you
want to reply but I will NOT get into a debate with you on which truck is
better. I agree that comments on the Ranger site are way off in left field
about the performance and what they've raced sometimes but of course they
will be. The Ranger will probably never receive a V8 because Ford sees no
reason to. That's a complete shame because I can guarantee Ford and Dodge
both would have a blast lining our trucks up when the displacement is
equally matched. Until then, all we can do is dream and slowly strive to get
our trucks up to par. I can tell you this, I'm personally trying to get
hired on to the fire dept. locally so I don't have to drive so far. That
means several things: I can drive my 'Cuda everyday and work on my truck.
I've already got a 302 and 5 speed waiting but right now I don't have
anything else to drive so I can't do the swap. My Dad and I have our own
machine shop so I know what I'm doing and then we'll have some fun with some
friendly grudge matches and such.
If any of you guys meet up in the DFW area give me a holler and I'd like to
meet up with you to chat or whatever. No I won't race you, yet!
later,
Jim Karnes
