Re: Headlight replacement...

The Audis, Mercedes, Lincoln's and Lexi you see have High Intensity
Headlamps (HID). The little rice burners you see running around have
halogens w/ a blue reflector/coaing. These are not the same, the rice
burner lights are hard on your eyes because of the color. The HID lights
are actually WHITE, not blue, they only look blue because everyone elses
headlights are yellowish. My friend had these on his car and when we
went on our road trip I couldn't figure out why my eyes felt so strained
and tired (I do delivery driving for a living, so I am used to driving
for LONG periods), it was because of these lights. We got pulled over in
Colorado, given a warning (they are not DOT approved re:illegal), and he
had the originals in his trunk so we replaced them. I noticed my eyes
felt a LOT better after switching the light out (no att. from police
either). HID's help, rice burner lights suck.

BTW My mom has HID lights on her Mark VIII, and they work very well.
