Jeff,
Make sure you are running with the stock heat range spark plugs!! Since
your truck was used you never know who (or what) did the last tune up (no
offense if it was you :^)) If they are "stock" parts, then try getting a set
a step or two cooler and see if that helps. Ive heard of Magnums being very
picky about spark plug type and heat range!

        Installed the 180 thermostat today. Took it for a test run, and got
one or
two pings with the engine not even up to its new operating temp. yet. Once
it
warmed up to its new temp., experienced similar rapid pinging as yesterday,
but not quite as bad. Detonation occured around 4300 on first run, and about
3400 on second run.
        Obviously I still have a problem. The only possible cause that I can
think of
now is lack of fuel. I bought the truck used with 43,000 miles on it and now
it has about 73,000. My guess is that the fuel filter has never been
changed.
I'll try this next.
