EGT/CHT gauges are important in Diesel trucks, too. But unless you're
running extreme levels of nitrous or some other mod that has the potential
to build up excessive heat in a short period of time, I would not think
they would be of much practical use. (Insert proof that I'm wrong here :-)
) I've found that a much more useful gauge for giving early warning of
possible engine problems (epically internal problems) is an oil temperature
gauge. A build up of friction somewhere is often an early symptom of a
failure, and this will result in an increase in the oil temp. I don't know
what all would be involved with installing one, but IMHO, it would be more
useful. Also, don't most race cars have oil temperature gauges? How many
have EGT/CHT gauges?
