reasonable price]

My CC 1998 R/T ran the following times with about 3K miles,
stock:

        run 1: 15.40
run 2: 15.5 [bad wheel spin]
        run 3: 15.25 [No tailgate/ No spare]
        run 4: 15.30 [" " " "]

The weather was pretty hot and muggy. About 89 F. [normal
Florida day]

After the Mopar/Thorley Headers and my homemade air induction
kit I ran the
following times at about 5.5K miles [w/o tailgate and spare]:

        run 1: 15.15
        run 2: 14.98
        run 3: 15.09 [running hot]
run 4: 14.92 [had time to cool off]

I haven't had a pass since the Jet II module mod, and I don't
know what to
expect. I'm hoping to shave about .1 of a second. Also, the
weather here in
Florida is always hot and muggy. I would love to run it in about
60 degree
        weather.

If you look through the archives, you will notice that times
vary
considerably. There are people that have clocked in the mid to
high 14's,
stock. I barely broke 15 with my headers. Also, my times are
somewhat
erratic, and this is due to the fact that I had never done a 1/4
mile run on
anything. My reaction times are O.K., but I'm not consistent. I
figure with
slicks, and an MPI Super Street TBI or a Stage II TBI from Frank
and Bruce
and some headwork I can probably run with the new Lightning.
That's one bad
ass truck no matter what anybody says about Ford, but $30K is
about $10K
over what some people have paid for their R/T's. I've spent
about $1K on my
R/T. That puts me at about $24K for the truck. That's my $.02
worth, or
        should I say $1K.

Kick the tires and light the fires,

        Jav

Ok....I c your ocean point. I don't live on the coast any more,
but
frequent it on the weekends.... I was wondering if any one had
quarter
mile times for there '98 R/T stock???? And times after each mod
(minor
and major)????? My track has been closed for the holiday
season, and
will open in mid Jan.... Thanks...

                Jason,
Performance wise Id go Leach, except they are only mild
steel
        with a chrome
plating and will eventually rust. Depends on your
"weather"
        conditions. My
plated steel Hookers only lasted about 6 years before
the rust
        caused some
leakage (I live by the beach). Also, In CA I dont think
the
        Leach headers
are CARB approved for 97-99 Daks, At least not for CA
R/Ts...
        But they will
                probably make the most power...
                BKB's .02

I have heard about a Mopar set going for about 430 +
        shipping..... If I
am correct it is just stainless steal, not ceramic
coating.
        Either way
it sounds like the better deal, and it doesn't require a
group
        buy......
Does anyone have performance per dollar thoughts on
this????
        Can anyone
give testimony to whether the JBA headers will out
perform the
        Mopar
headers for the dollar???? I would like to hear about
the
        performance
increase the Dak owners have had using JBA headers, and
maybe
        someone
with the Mopar headers could give theirs' as well.....
        Thanks.....

I don't know if you guys are sold on the JBA's,
but for
        the
                price, the
                        MOPAR/LEACH is a great performer, tri-y design
AND it
        comes with
                a
                        Y-PIPE (mandrel bent of course)and a lifetime

        IMHO I
                wouldn't
                        use any other. Alan S.

I called Mr. Jeff Bells inquiring about our DML
group
        purchase
                for the
JBA headers. He referred me to Joe at ex. 104.
It
        seems Joe
                will be
handling the purchase of the headers for the DML
buyers.
        He
                quoted me a
price of $398 in change for stainless
non-ceramic
        coating, and
                $133 in
change or $130 something in change for the
ceramic
        coating plus
                $16 for
shipping & handling. I asked him for a time
frame or
        deadline
                of
purchase. He was going with the past group buy.
It
        seems there
                was a
30 day type of arrangement???? I just wanted to
pass
        the info
                on.
                        Thanks....
