Mine was doing the same thing, first thing in the morning, thought it might
be the shafr problem a lot of 2WD have, one morning it would not unlock for
several minutes, no power steering, took it in and left it overnight and it
did it to the tech in the morning they replaced the rack and penion and it
is fine now, I did not pay much attention on the freeway but when I drove it
home I almost went off the road is steered so easy. This was just four days
ago.better than new now.
If you have a problem with your dealer no tsb on this, e mail me and I will
send you the info from my work order.
I would have it checked right away, when the power went out I was ok over
the years its happened before,on other cars belts ect but if my wife would
have been driving it could have been dangerious.
Also the dealer said it locked up while they were trying to find the
problem.
I have 7000 miles on it now but it started at about 4000 and kept just
getting worse.
