You know when I posted my message yesterday I didn't think to give any
info on the condition of my truck to go along with my inquiry about
'totalling it out'.
Okay...1992 4x4 LE 318 auto in very very clean shape with 104,000 miles.
When she came to rest the hood was buckled and pushed back. Right front
fender pushed and had this 'shredded' effect. Like something had clawed
the metal right up.
Right door won't open. The right side glass, lenses, lights etc gone.
Grill gone.
Bumper hanging. Pushed up against front tire. Radiator pushed back and
pouring fluid. Fan hitting against something but moving! Lovely little
chunk chunk noise. The damage is concentrated to the front right
(passenger) side of my truck.
(I am in a much better frame of mind today btw....thanks for the
messages and thoughts) When I left the scene they hadn't cited anyone. I
was kinda pissed you know. Later after I got home the Sheriff called and
told me he had issued a citation to the other guy for 'failure to
yield'. Not that seeing him get a citation is any degree of satisfaction
but it simplifies insurance somewhat I would think.(okay...I'm
lying...it does give me satisfaction....lol) But as a few of you guys
have said. We are okay. My kids are unhurt and really in the end its
just a truck. It could have been far worse I know. Its been a great
truck. Fun. Fast. Dependable. It has been the best vehicle I ever bought
and I would buy another in a heartbeat.
Ironically 2 days before this happened I had a guy do the same
thing....same intersection. I followed him into the gas station and told
him he was gonna cause an accident doing that crap. Drew a blank kinda
stare.
Karma's a funny thing ain't it?
Happy New Year All!
