Companies such as carpoint bring in A LOT of business for participating
dealers. The problem is that you can only get deals on cars that are not in
high demand. I doubt if you can get a RT through them.

I read in the papers last week that a dealer was put on probation for trying
to dupe the buyer out of the car after they realize that it was a hot
selling model and they can sell it at sticker.

I've bought more than 30 cars in the past 30 years, and this
too has
always been my experience... but when I bought my '99 Dakota
last month I
went to www.carpoint.com where I was referred to an area
Dodge dealer. I
don't know if every carpoint.com dealer's policy is the
same, but I was
treated courteously, immediately shown the invoice and
offered the truck
straight out at $149.00 over invoice- more than $1000 off
the $16,000
list price. Add in the $500 Chryler rebate and I was $351
BELOW invoice
or more than $1500 below window sticker. All of this in less
than 10
pleasant minutes handled courteously over a complimentary
cup of coffee.
A half hour of paperwork later and I was driving home in my
new truck. No
hassles. No haggling. No sales manager. No offers. No
deposits. No
                negotiations. No counter-offers. No vaseline!

The dealer said that their internet sales have gone from
nothing to a
significant percentage of their business in less than a year
and they
expect a day to come when the vast majority of sales will be
pre-arranged
via the internet. The interaction between dealer and
cusotmer will simply
be signing a few papers and picking up the vehicle. I will
definitely buy
my next vehicle off of the internet. No- I'm not in any way
connected
with carpoint.com- just a "happy car buyer"... which is
traditionally an
                oxymoron.
