Let me answer some of your questions:

Yes, they did do some bore work. They milled the bores down
to the butterflys, with the shaft and butterfly plates out.
They also put (red) loctite on the SS screws.

I had no idea you could ship me one to use while you worked on
mine. That will work! Let me know what I need to do $ wise. E-mail
