In Oct of 1998, I totalled my 98 dak sport 5spd. I was hit by an oncoming
car when I was turning left. I was hit by a Terda Tercel. Only minor front
end damage on the Tercel, but my dak was picked up and carried to it's
death. I was hit on the passenger side infront of the rear tire. it bent
the rim, axle, and sent the now-broken leaf springs through my bed. It tore
my drive shaft out of my transfer and left it hanging in the dirt. My reese
hitch saved it from further damage. My friend and I walked away shaken up,
but all right. The dak was totaled. The reese hitch made the structure
stronger, but I still don't recommend turning left or going straight into a
left turning car. Glad to hear you get a new one out of this. I am still
waiting for my 99.
