Let's put the oil line into the crankcase and see what happens when some

changed their design..you can still get the original.)>>

I don't think Paxton's self contained transmission fluid lubricated compressor
design is a real hot item these days, either. Their bearings are known to
fail, and I suspect that has something to do with the temperature these things
reach... Paxton came out with an external oil cooler that may help, but that
just add's another $350 to the Paxton's already high price.

On the other hand, Vortech uses engine oil the lubricate the compressor, which
has proven itself to last many tens of thousands of miles without any hint of
failure. Their compressors are also maintenance free with the exception of
making sure the oil inlet to the compressor is clean and not restricted.

Using engine oil isn't a new concept - it's been done in the turbocharging
industry for quite some time now. I don't understand what you're trying to say
- When metal gets through the filter... what filter? If you're talking about
the oil filter - even if some metal debris were to make it's way back to the
blower (unlikely), there still wouldn't be any way for the engine to actually
suck the debris down into the combustion chamber.

<< "Charlie's Mustangs" in San Jose, CA used to put those on 5.0L Mustangs and

our shop used to replace the engines...and then put the correct "Blower" on

them...Paxton. >>

and on the same note, if I'm not mistaken, The Corral, a very large Mustang
speed shop out of St. Pete, FL is currently in the process of switching from
Paxton to Vortech... to each their own, but if you going on Dragstrip #s, the
Vortech is going to be the winner by a longshot..
