No flameage here dude =) I'm a big fan of Alpine, but the models for the
95 year were pretty cheap (the first year for the rotary control stuff). I
replaced the laser twice on my old one (CDM-7829) before I finally sold it.
I got a CDA-7832 and I'm pretty happy with it. My next Unit will probably
be Eclipse or Clarion. My roomate had a Pioneer and it was junk (I know
there are a lot of people on the list with Pioneers, but this one sucked).
All the display lights went out on it within 6 months, then the motors that
feed the CD into the playback mechanism burned out, then the function
buttons quit working, and all this happened in about a year's time. It was
one of the one's designed to fit Chrysler dashes. He got a Clarion and he
loves it. No inboard power, you have to use an outboard amp...pretty
cool =)

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Alpine in any way. I almost got
another alpine (without an amp), but found it simpler to get the sony
(which the owner of the shop has in his car--now THAT'S an
endorsement!!),
and I get ESP (very helpful with the roads as tore up as they are now). I
wouldn't hesitate to get another one, I was just remarking that they seem
to get a little hotter than most.
