Superchargers are a great way to bolt on horsepower.. For under $2700, I
reduced my ETs over 1 full second, and gained at least 10 mph through the
traps with only 5-6 lbs of boost.
Compare that to the other modifications I did, Cam ($1000 incl. springs,
retainers, labor, and other misc parts.. ), Roller rockers ($425), Ring and
Pinion swap ($400-500 incl. labor), K&N FIPK ($100), Borla Headers & custom
bent dual exhaust ($800, incl. mufflers + labor) which only dropped my ETs 7-8
tenths and gave me around 3-4 mph through the traps over my 16.2 @ 84ish mph
baseline.
Plus, the blower was a very easy install, and I didn't have to break any
engine gaskets to do so ..... If I had the chance to do it over again, I'd
make the blower my first choice.
I think the only other competitor that can compare with a blower in terms of
simplicity & horsepower would be Nitrous Oxide.... IMO, I think Nitrous is
more of a drag-racing trick than anything else, and I think a blower would be
a much better choice for someone's $25,000 daily driver...... But of course,
that's just my opinion.
