Here are the results I got from Blackstone labs. I used Mobil 10W30 up
until about 10,000 miles then switched to Mobil 1 10W30 (full synthetic).
I change my oil and filter every 3,000 miles. The engine is a 1996 318ci
(5.2L) with about 57,000 miles. I've used a 14x3" open element K&N filter
for the last 10 to 20 thousand miles. This is the first time I've had my
oil tested.

COMMENTS:
JON: Universal averages are based on all engines of this type we have
analyzed oil from. Comparing metals to those found in your sample,
you can see how well your 318 is doing, after 3,000 miles use of the
oil. The only fault found in the sample, and it is a minor one, is
1.0% of the sample was gas. If this is 5W30 oil it was not enough to
lighten the viscosity. In-town driving may be the cause.
