hahahahahaha.....I don't want your job, cuz I have to do it
part
        time
and hate it.... Our LAN and Wan is a head ache every day.
I
        did skip
over that gain point. I kind thought it was implied in the
        distortion
comment. Couldn't you include volume and gain in the same
        sentence as
interchangeable??? Isn't the volume a type of rheostat
that
        controls
the output levels of the internal amps??? Any given amp
        (circuits not
that thing you use in your car for Mo Power) will have an
output
        defined
by its circuit design????? I thought the volume/gain just
        controlled
what went into the circuit thus determining what is spit
out of
        the
circuit???? If you pump the gain up, then you start to
distort
        the
signal in, thus a bad signal now amplified shooting out????
I
        used the
Max power less than speaker RMS, so I didn't receive any
funny
        spikes
that could cause damage.... I think most
        home-do-it-yourself-ers match
max to max and push the envelope sometimes. Any how...What
is a
        MECP???
I know what MSCE, and MCE, CE, and all those other network
        related mumbo
jumbos are.... I personally went for a CE/EE, but slept
through
        the EE
junk, man it was boring....hahahahahaha..... Never did
care
        much for
amps, rectifiers, bridges, band bass filters, and on, and
on,
        and on....
Although I loved feed back, all kinds, yeah Jimmy bring it
home
        baby,
hahahahaha..... Can you hear Jimmy???? hahahahahaha.....

Output level doesn't really matter, any of the decent
amps
        out
             there today
have strong enough inputs to handle the new 4+ volt
pre in.
Just set the input gains correctly and you can feed it
a
        CLEAN
             Speaker
                  level.
FYI. I am a MECP Master installer, Just not working in
that
             industry any
                  more. I am now a network(Wan) Engineer.

So, what you are saying in theory is.......The factory
        Infinity
CD/Tape/AM/FM has line level outputs....I could run
that
             directly to an
                  amp.
Do we have any Mopar Service people out there to
verify the
             output level?

The top end from Mopar is supposed to be amped
already....
        Or
             at least
have a nicer built in stereo amp.... Either way
someone is
        more
             than
willing to shoot me if I ever replace my factor
system....
hahahahahahahaha..... It was one of the major selling
        points of
             the
car.... I can blast my beach boys and annoy all of
the
        local
             bass
heads, hahahahaha.... I have already caught the
attention
        of
             several
trying to figure me out. Number one sell point, the
Solar
             Yellow it is
                  painted, hehehehe....

Alpine makes one I think. The factory Infinity
is
        pretty
             good,
                  but it
doesn't have line level outputs for an amp, I am
        thinking
             about
                  running my
factory Infinity and putting on a speaker to line
        level
                  converter if I can
find on that doesn't add too much distortion.

Thanks for the info Mike. Not ready for an amp as
of
        yet, I
             was
                  just
wondering how much you wanted for it. I have to
pick
        up the
             DEH
                  86 1st,
but gota finish my grill first. You know of
anything
        thats
             as
                  good as
the 86 but can play tapes and CD's? Bob Nichols
