I have a friend who HAD (past tense) a F150 about a 87 model actually catch
fire in the carpet from driving very slowly while throwing newspapers.
FoMoCo said that was normal and he should not have been driving that slow or
idling the engine for such a long time. He has a GMC now. (not much better
but it doesn't catch fire)
I've seen the carpet scorched under the passenger seat by exhaust system
heat coming through the floor.
