I think you will need an isolator which cost about $85.

Why don't you see if an optima dell cycle battery will fit?

  Hey, speaking of which... I've been thinking of getting an
electric fan one of these days, and I thought it might not be a bad
idea to add a second battery. Especially since I also would like to
use it at the track while the engine is off. What would be the best
way to hook something like that up? You audiophiles can probably
help me out... :-)

  I assume it should be wired up in parallel with the stock battery?
