shift guage doesnt line up

There is a very thin wire that goes from the spring load mechanism that
controls the pointer down to the steering column. When you shift out of
park, part of the column rotates and pulls on the cable and that moves
the pointer. To adjust this, you have to very carefully take the upper
cover off the steering column and the lower dash cover and make the
bottom of the gear cluster accessible. Good luck, the wire's easy to
break!
