Hey kevin welcome to the list. To shift into 4-low I always put it in
neutral while stopped and then pull it back into low. You can shift into
4-high while moving, I just usually take my foot off the gas while shifting
it. Same way to shift out just let off the gas and push it back forward.
You don't have to worry about backing up to disengage 4-wheel drive in you
truck either. There should be instructions on the back of the sun visor for
operating 4-wheel drive. Also its normal for the light in the footwell to
stay on for a few seconds it does the same thing in mine.
