Here's an easy scenario...

Remember your old BMX bikes...

When you changed the rear sprocket from 20 - 16 tooth (this is a comparison
from 3.55 - 3.92) you were able to go up the hills easier and with less
slippage. But...you couldn't "burn the back tire" as easy as when you had
the 20 tooth...leaning on the handlebars or course.

Another comparison would be from my experiences from Bracket Racing in my
old Camaro. I used to have 3.23's in the rearend but could never get the
car to "hook up" due to tire slippage. After I installed the 3.73's...Noooo
problems and the ET's got faster as well.

The same goes for the rearend gears on the trucks. When using the 3.55
gears , something is going to give easier when you "get on it"...in this
case the tires. Yes, I can still burn the tires with the 3.92's...but when
offroad, the tires don't slip as much (or on the road).

Hope this helps...
