Works with gyros, just like inertial navigation systems. It measures
acceleration and you tell it the weight of the vehicle and some other
stuff. Knowing this info and some basic physics, it can calculate pretty
much all the performance stuff you want to know. Some folks have taken
theirs to the track and compard the G-teck to the timing equipment and it
appears to work quite well.
As far as installation, it sticks to the inside of the windshield with
suction cups and plugs into the auxiliary power outlet (the politicaly
correct term for you cigarette lighter).
