On our 5.9 with four 02-sensors, if we remove the cat we will get a code
stored in pcm that will not be cleared until we install a cat again. Here is
the reason, pcm are reading 02-sensor volt before cat and after cat,
comparing volt to determine how effective the cat is. Later in life when cat
gone real bad the reading between 02-sensors will be the same and pcm turn
on a check engine light to remind us that we need to replace cat. Sorry
about my bad writing in English.
This is only on vehicle with 5.9 and four 02-sensors.
