a 2 1/2 Y pipe will increase low end power. I did it to my 98 4X4 with an
existing 3 " cat back and jba headers.

Where do you need the power? Does it pull strong over 3000rpm? Since you
say 5th is useless, I'm assuming you have no low-end torque. I think that a
large-diameter exhaust pipe will kill your low-end torque, which is what you
need since you're pulling that heavy 4x4 around. As far as a daily driver
is concerned, you may want to go to a smaller pipe on your exhaust; OTOH,
make sure your Y-pipe isn't too restrictive (crimped).

never run like 220 horses should. Dealer says (repeatedly) that it's all
good, nothing's wrong. First
of all, it,s a 318 w\NV3500 4X4 CC (black) pretty s.o.b. I started
perf. mods. right away hoping to run across something amiss, but to no
avail. Some of the mods. so far: 3" Gibson cat-back, Doug
Thorleys, Mopar Perf. S>B>E>C> comp., K&N FIPK open filter, Magnum Perf.
SS throttle body, Jacobs 8.5 wires, Champion truck plugs, and Jacobs
omni-pak. All made improvements in power on one level or another--not
sure about the omni-pak, flamed out once and fried my cat. conv. that
sucked! Don't know which direction to go next. Any ideas or
suggestions would soitainly be appreciated from anybody out there.
Fifth gear is useless, motor won't pull the truck! Considering 1.6
roller rockers next. Other mods (non-perf. related) include : nerf
bars, brush guard, Dick Cepek Baja lasers, class 5 hitch, Leer crown
shell, Ultra 7X15 rims with 31X11.50 Bridgestone HTs. Custom made wooden
tool boxes/matress support (for campouts) Truck's way nice, but
WON'T GO! HELP ME !!! Thanks, Brad
