Spare Tire Security

Checkout the MOPAR spare tire lock available at your local dealer.

It consists of a wheel type lock for the end of the shaft that lowers
the spare
tire. This prevents a thief from cutting the cable on your spare tire
and stealing
it anyway--plus, you don't have to lay under the truck in order to
unlock the spare
it it happens to be raining or snowing. It's about $30-40, and well
worth protecting
an expensive rim and tire.

Secure you mean make it thief-proof?? If this is what you mean I would
suggest
a setup similar to what I have. I am using a very thick guage steel
cable that
is rubber/plastic coated, I think Kryptonite makes it. This cable is
about
1/2" thick and has loops at each end. I run this cable through my spare
and up
through a bed support rail and then back down the tire. I lock it with a

MasterLock weatherproof rubber coated lock. No problems yet after 4 1/2
years;
not even rust. I think the cable was $20 and the lock was under $10.
