Brakes! The final word from the dealership

Just got off the phone with my service advisor. Here is what he found out
about the missing splash shield on my truck. Apparently, they were left off
of SOME Dakotas depending on what day they were assembled and by whom.
Sounds to me like someone wasn't doing their job. He stands by that my rotor
is not cracked but does have what looks like an imprint of the pad on the
rotor. He has no idea of how that got there, but me and a 2 mile long 12%
grade have some other ideas that neither of us are giving up :) Needless to
say though, that I am now very familiar with engine braking on long down
hill runs. He did say though that he has the shields coming in and that they
will install them for me. I don't know if that is really a good idea or bad,
but I said "Sure". If you remember, I was hoping that my truck was the only
one that did not get the shields and that they would step up and repair the
brakes under warranty even though the truck is over 12 months old. What's
interesting here is that one of the other list members with a 99 Dakota 4X4
is also missing them. Fish, you reading this? The service advisor said that
if you wanted them on your truck, that you should be able to get your
dealership to order them for you. If they give you any slack, have them call
Maxwell Dodge Service at 512-365-2020, and ask for Todd, he knows the whole
story. BTW, he did not tell me to message that, but heck, he could use the
extra work :-P

Just thought you would like to know.....
