240 Amp alternator

     Eric, I agree with you that the 240 is a little overkill. I have the
     136 amp myself and it'll serve my 900 watt system fine. But, you made
     an error on your last statement. Putting batteries in series ups the
     voltage. 3, 12v batteries will give 36volts, but has the same running
     time as one. Putting the 3 in parallel will give 12v but has 3 times
     the running time, which is better for extended engine-off listening.
     Hard on the alternator, though, when it comes time to charge them all
     up.
