In a message dated 99-03-24 23:34:27 EST, you write:

<< OK, I am Mechanically Illiterate, I can write an
internet browser with C++, but I cant change my own oil
=P. Anyway, can someone explain to me what a throttle
body is/does? I hear about Porting and Polishing them,
and I hear about the Bruce and Frank Throttle Body, is
this a "pre-ported and polished" Throttle Body? Thanks
for any info, i'm tryin to learn this stuff. >>

A throttle body is like a carburetor. Its the metering device that allows air
to enter an engine. At wide open throttle, a ported and polished throttle
body will let more air into the engine, thus increasing power. Unlike a
carburetor, a throttle body does not have fuel flowing through it. Thats what
fuel injectors are for. The throttle body, through sensors, tells the
computer how much air, or pressure is being moved, or built, in an engine.
The computer in turn determins proper fuel amounts to inject to optimize
performance, fuel economy, and emmisions. More air, more fuel, bigger
explosion (read that as combustion), more power. The Frank and Bruce throttle
bodies are one of, if not THE best performance vs dollar investments you can
make. I think. I STILL havent gotten mine!!! He he! Not like I have a
running motor to put it on, but it would still be nice to look at!!!!!
