Ooooh - Bench Racing!!!!! OK, I think Ronnie Sox took the '69 RoadRunner
thru the quarter mile at around 12.4-12.6 seconds and around 110-112 mph.
Not bad considering off-the-line traction was a MAJOR problem - just like
our Daks (Dak content). The car had a 440 6-pack and 4-spd. (yeah, Ronnie
was one of the elite who could consistently beat autos in the quarter).
The 440 was actually quicker than the Hemi in the quarter in factory form
(yeah, I know most of the Top Fuel dragsters are based on the 426 Hemi).
Actually, the Hemi just started waking up around 110 mph, which would give
that 'vette (other post) a run for the money :^)
