If you are just looking for a basic CB to talk on I would recommend a
Uniden CB They run about 40 bucks brand new and they are a good quality
CB. You may be able to find a CB in the local classifieds with more
features for the same amount of money. As far as the antenna goes you have
two choices. buy a magnetic mount antenna that goes on top of your cab.
Its made of all steel and bends very easily when going underneath
objects(Wilson 1000 $50 dont go for the radio shack version too much RF
loss and its hard to tune the antenna) or mount a 6ft fiberglass (Wilson
$25)or eight foot steel antenna($15) on your bumper. You can mount the
fiberglass on a spring so it bends when going underneath objects aslo. You
can fold the 8 ft whip antenna out of the way while in a garage. You need
to have as much of the antenna above the cap as possible for good clear
reception and transmission. Hope this helps.
