The lockup is a feature of our TC's and unless all out racer you would want
to retain this for street use. The aftermarket TC's alter the fin angle and
stator inside the torque converter to increase torque multiplication. They
but up used TC's and the rebuild them with the modifications. I bought one
from TCI and this was after 3 e-mails to their tech support trying to qualify
that it was indeed the right one for my Dak. The dealer also made 2 calls.
The third of my messages was never answered, I should have taken that as a
warning. I received the TC removed the tranny to install it but it did not
fit, would not align with the holes on the flex plate. I e-mailed them (being
very nice about it) and told them the problem and that my vehicle was apart
and tied up and that I needed to get it resolved asap. Never did hear back
from them and the deal made several calls but the person was unavailable and
would call back. The calls started on wed and the call came back on Monday
stating to send it back and they would look it over and see if there was a
problem. The was a problem, Them and their tech support. The dealer returned
my money and was sending it back with a note as to where they could put it. I
would shy away from doing business with TCI. There are other good companies
out there. Right now I am leaning torward Protorque who alos sells them but
with a 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee and a 1 yr 100% warrantee
(TCI had a 90 defect warrantee) Also Joe at Protorque has been very good and
timely in replying to my messages.
I hope this experience will help save someone else from a very dis-appointing
experience. I was fortunate to have alternate transportation.
