Mike,

I'm runnng this setup and don't have a large gap in mine - The K&N
element may be 1/4" smaller than the base/lid, causing (maybe) a 1/8"
gap at any given point in the circumference.

I used a chassis punch to make the hole and a 90 degree stainless
compression fitting 1/2" male pipe (in air cleaner base) with a 1/2"
electrical conduit locknut to 1/2" tubing (short stub for breather
hose). The hose slip fits kinda loose, so I used a clamp (hidden). I
do remember "leaning" on the front of the base to angle it down a
little, but it still rubbed my liner until I used a grinder on the front
ribs to round off the sharp edges.
