I don't doubt that manufacturers come up with their own terms for the
parts...but even from past personal experiences, shops, and manufacturers,
this is the standard terminology. Even the driveline shop that did my
gears uses the same terms. (As far
back as I can remember, those were the terms used...even for GM and FORD.)
