The stock clutch fan setup weighs about 15 lbs and when engaged it puts
a tremendous drag on the power output of the engine. Even when it's not
fully engaged it has a parasitic drag effect. I picked up 3 tenths in
the 1/4. I'm sure there are other benefits as well, but I only care
about racing.
I have done some testing today to see if I could get it to overheat with
the A/C on. So far, normal temps, but it's only in the 80's outside. I
drove around with the A/C on and then idled in the driveway for 20 mins.
and temps were below 200 the whole time. I finished off with about 3-5
mins in drive with my foot on the brake idling as I would in traffic.
The needle still stayed below 200. Looks good so far.
